Nonprofit Spotlight: August 2020

To say this is a unique and challenging time is an understatement for the Brookwood Community and so many nonprofits. In compliance with state and local guidelines, Brookwood’s on-site work programs for hundreds of adults with disabilities remain closed; events and tours have been canceled; and our café and retail stores are open, but with reduced capacity and decreased sales. We anticipate we may lose 50% of annual enterprise revenue from our Café and Retail sales this fiscal year, and the impact will be more dramatic if the pandemic lingers on. All of these abrupt changes forced us to think outside the box and create new methods to serve our community. Our Medical Team has adapted procedures to comply with the ever-changing mandates regarding assisted living facilities for the care and safety of our Residential Citizens. The Citizen Life Team has created virtual learning activities, take-home work boxes and on-line resources to support Brookwood Citizens and their families in mind, body, and spirit whether they were at home or on campus. Our staff continue to resourcefully navigate these unprecedented circumstances in order to keep the Brookwood spirit thriving, while ensuring that our Citizens are safe and healthy. We appreciate your prayers and support!
